Cameroonians have taken to mockery and humor as the former minister of transport, former minister of communications (government spokesperson) and now former minister of vocational training – Issa Tchiroma Bakary announces his resignation from the government and the launching of his presidential campaign. “What a joke!!!” one Cameroonian exclaimed. Social media is full of funny comments and jokes against a man who was removed from jail and given all kinds of positions by President Paul for over two decades.
Like Prof. Kamto, Issa Thciroma Bakary only woke-up to a political ambition after having gained from the Biya regime for over twenty years. During all these years, he did not see the alleged problems faced by Cameroonians or the “evils” of a regime he served with such vigor and determination that even surprised members of the president’s own political party.
This master political flip-flopper from another planet has marvelled Cameroonians as he changes from calling Paul Biya “god” to calling him the “destroyer” of Cameroon. Amazed Cameroonians have observed as he changes from praise to vitriolic criticism depending on whether he holds a lucrative post or not. His only guide is his personal gain with no conscience at all.
In many households in Cameroon today, traitors are simply called “Issa Tchiroma”. When you betray someone, they say you have “Issa Tchiromared” the person.
This “resignation” has come to confirm in the minds of Cameroonians that their opposition and “regime-change” weaver birds are actually political entrepreneurs who sell to the highest bidder. They have never had the interest of the people at heart, and they will never do so.
Politics to the Abba Oyonos, Jean Michel Nitcheus, Issa Tchiromas and Maurice Kamtos of Cameroon is just a business like any other business. I will support Biya to get the benefits of power and oppose him when I lose the advantages. Their only political plan and calculation is “Biya is old, let me leave now and join the next regime so I can continue to eat”.
No wonder Cameroonians have been voting for Paul Biya for the past 4o years and will certainly vote for him again this 2025, despite his age. Cameroonians, even if they want change, have just been comforted in their choice by this Issa Tchiroma comedy of shame.
Cameroonians have seen the newest comedian in town (Issa Tchiroma) as they have seen Prof. Kamtos and other clowns doing their political business on the backs of gullible Cameroonians.
Who can entrust the future of 30 million Cameroonians in the hands of these political pranksters? Cameroonians know them inside out as they promise an Eldorado if elected. Political magicians and development messiahs who only see their vision for Cameroon every time they lose their advantages.
There will be a presidential election in Cameroon this 2025, for real candidates and real political parties with realistic projects for the country. It will not be a circus so you will not see the names of jesters like Issa Tchiroma or Prof. Kamto because they are not in the real world.
No wonder, Paul Biya has remained president for so long.
A big bravo to Cameroonians.
