From Russia through Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, Tchad, Gabon, The RCA, the African Union, the African Commission on HUMAN and Peoples rights, the European Union to France and beyond, world leaders have been congratulating President Paul BIYA for his brilliant re-election. This world recognition of the newly elected president comes against a background of election observation reports which were unanimous that the process was generally credible, free and fair.
As the days to the installment of the President elect approach, Cameroonians from all works of life, tribes and social standing have called on all to accept the verdict of the polls and turn a new page. The president elect himself -PAUL BIYA-declared on the eve of the election result that he was going to work with all Cameroonians and regretted that a few lives had been lost uselessly. The majority of Cameroonians have clearly accepted the verdict and adhered to the calls for peace and national concord.
The world and Cameroonians however observe in consternation as ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY the candidate of the FCSN who arrived a distant second in the election insists and persists to break the laws not only related to elections, but all the laws guaranteeing the peace and tranquility of the country. From declaring himself winner of the election just a few hours after the vote ended, through accepting that he has been in contact with terrorist secessionist leaders who are responsible for thousands od deaths in the NW and SW, calling for an insurrection, declaring ghost towns, supporting arsonists and looters, ordering diasporans to attack embassies, defying the established authority to declaring that he has a “loyal army” protecting him, ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY has placed himself outside the legal framework of elections and state security.
Cameroonians watch now in amazement as one candidate is calling for the general lockdown and paralysis of the state – no schools, no trading in markets, no movements, no imports, no exports, no work etc etc.. To add salt to injury, ISSA TCHIROMA is now claiming to have the “people” meaning the gullible youths and drugged minors he is willing to sacrifice for his personal ambition.
Fortunately, most Cameroonians now understand that despite the psychos and terrorism that ISSA TCHRIMA BAKARY, his diaspora radicals and his drugged youths are trying unleash on the country, they can count on the protection of PRESIDENT PAUL BIYA. Stealing fish from a fish-deport, gas bottles from a gas-plant, pigs from a piggery, bread from a bakery and money from banks can not be called election-contestation or peaceful protests as ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY and his fanatics want Cameroonians to believe. Beating call-box operators and asking them to transfer all the money they have worked is not election protesting and can never be called a peaceful march. Burning petrol stations after collecting all the money and destroying packed cars after forcefully collecting money from the owners is not a peaceful demonstration as ISSA TCHIROMA and his followers want the world to believe. When police stations, administrative buildings, schools, election offices private properties are attacked and destroyed, ISSA TCHIROMA has never condemned such acts or called for an investigation.
Now that Cameroonians know who the aggressor (ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY) and the protector (PRESIDENT PAUL BIYA), they have decided to wait for the newly elected president to be installed in peace and joy. We have seen youths in many neighborhoods come out to clean streets, rebuild markets, re-paint defaced edifices, sensitize other youths to refuse manipulation, accompany administrators to sensitize the masses and denounce violence. We have even seen moto-bike riders join peaceful caravans calling for calm. Many bayam-sellams have declared urbi et orbi that they don’t want unrest as they seek their daily bread.
Despite his resorting to the ultimate terrorist tool -FEAR-which he intends to instill through ghost towns, ISSA TCHIROMA now knows he has crossed too many redlines and it is just the legendary tolerance of the President elect (PAUL BIYA) and his personal commitment to a peaceful Cameroon that are keeping him out of jail. He knows this hence his recent moves to hide and claim he is being protected by a “loyal army”. Even his bluff to bring in mercenaries from neighboring Nigeria, Tchad and the RCA is only aimed at destroying the living together of Cameroonians and citizens of those countries based in the GRAND NORD. Cameroonians have now seen the true colors of this political witch doctor whose personal ambition has no limit even if it means destroying the country.
From his hiding place in North Cameroon, ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY will be piloting the death-squads of ghost-town enforcers who will be attacking peaceful Cameroonians who just want to go about their normal lives. He will continue to make incendiary videos in an attempt to start his insurrection. He will call on youths to come out en masse and defy the defense/security forces. So far, he has failed because Cameroonians in their vast majority want peace. He will call for civil disobedience so there can be clashes that he will use in the international community. This too is now well known to Cameroonians who have generally remained calm.
As President BIYA is being sworn-in in the days to come, the ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY very miniscule followers, gullible youths, drugged youths, diaspora fanatics, human shield around his Garoua residence and frustrated politicians will multiply lies, fake images, fake videos, claims that President BIYA is dead, BREAKING NEWS, claims that Cameroon has been paralyzed and that war is imminent. All these will once again eventually be ignored by Cameroonians who now KNOW that President BIYA is the guarantor of their safety and well-being.
Cameroonians are mature politically and we will not be surprised to see thousands or even millions come out on the day of installment of President BIYA to sing, dance and make merry.
