Millions of Cameroonians across the 10 regions of the country and the diaspora were glued to their TV screens, radios and social media with hundreds of thousands lining the streets of Yaoundé as President Biya took the oath of office at the National Assembly. The haters of Cameroon and initiators of insurrection also watched on social media as millions of Cameroonians hailed their new president. The nation held its breath and remained peaceful as all citizens adhered to the peace offer made by President Paul Biya on the eve of his re-election.
The new National Assembly building, where the new president was sworn in received Cameroonians from all the regions, classes, tribes, ethnicities, diplomats from all continents in an atmosphere of candid joy and camaraderie. Once again Cameroon’s democracy was on display as over two hundred national and international media houses were accredited to cover the event. Most of the presidential candidates who took part in the election were present in the hall of the National Assembly demonstrating their democratic and republican maturity.
In some neighborhoods of major cities, TV watch parties were organized and some even ended with spontaneous chanting of the National Anthem. The October 12th, 2025, presidential election had come to an end. Spontaneous peaceful march pasts were recorded in some localities around the national territory. The candidate of peace and development had been selected by the voters and the constitution was being respected at the inauguration.
The diplomatic corps that was heavily represented by heads of diplomatic missions continued to transmit messages of congratulations to the newly elected president. Even as the swearing in ceremony was going on, the great people of the United States of America and their illustrious President DONALD J. TRUMP through their ambassador made public the congratulations of Washington to President Paul BIYA. The American congratulation which came after those from Russia, China, the African Union, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad just to name a few, insisted on America’s willingness to continue to work with the people of Cameroon. President Paul Biya’s policy of friendship with peoples from all over the world was on display.
As the inauguration ceremony moved from the National Assembly to the Unity Palace, echoes of parties and merriment could be heard from almost all the neighborhoods of the capital of Cameroon. It was truly the peoples inauguration some observers stated.
This national and international inauguration atmosphere of joy and hope in the future of Cameroon contrasted sharply with the hate-speech, calls for insurrection, calls for ghost-towns, blockage of the country and civil disobedience that was launched by one candidate-ISSA THCIROMA BAKARY. As Cameroonians now focus on the new 7-year mandate that they have given President Paul Biya, many have said they expect the FCSN President will accept the sincere hand of peace and friendship that President Paul BIYA has extended to all Cameroonians including him (ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY). Cameroonians in their vast majority now say the election is over and all must put hands on deck to build a new strong, united and prosperous country. This is not the time to destabilize the country and anyone attempting to do so will have to deal with the 30 million-man sovereign people of Cameroon.
The joy seen today as President Paul BIYA was been sworn-in and the peace observed all over the national territory has once again disgraced those who claimed there will be chaos and destruction in Cameroon. Those inside and outside Cameroon who sponsored and manipulated a few youths to attack and destroy public and private properties have been put to shame by the joy of the inauguration of President Paul BIYA.
From Douala, to Yaoundé, through BUEA, BAMENDA, BERTOUA, EBOLOWA, NGOUNDERE, MAROUA, GAROUA to BAFOUSSAM, Cameroonians are now focused on accompanying their newly inaugurated president. There is no room for hatred, division and strife. The living-together that president BIYA mentioned in his inaugural speech is already being practiced and implemented despite the few negative attempts to destabilize citizens and their new leader.
As the sun sets on this historic inauguration day, Cameroonians have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that they are a mature and peaceful people willing to work with President Paul BIYA. The friends of Cameroon should now only accompany this new momentum.
We can now join the mature people of Cameroon to say CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT PAUL BIYA for your victory and for a successful election cycle….
