Cameroon Truth Number Eleven: Under Paul Biya, Cameroon Holds Violence-Free Election Campaign

President PAUL BIYA has once again defied all political odds and negative predictions by leading an African  country that will today the 11th of October 2025, go down in the annals of elections as having organized a 100% violence-free presidential campaign. From Yaounde, through Douala, to Bamenda, Buea, Limbe, Mbengwi, Nkambe, Garoua, Maroua, Bertoua, Ebolowa and countless villages of all the regions of Cameroon, campaign teams held rallies peacefully and joyfully by passing each other as they crisscrossed the 475,442 km² of the country.

Everyone is attributing this success to the will of one man-PRESIDENT PAUL BIYA. When he said “you do not need to use violence or take up arms to express your political opinions in Cameroon” and when he added “Cameroon’s democracy has a place for all to freely express their opinions” and finally when he concluded “measures have been taken to make sure the October 12th 2025 election are peaceful” many thought it was just political sloganeering. The results of the campaigns that will be ending today, have proven the president right.

No campaign convoy was attacked anywhere, no campaign team was refused access to any part of the country, where necessary, the same security was allocated to all the twelve candidates.

The doomsayers who made imaginary forecasts of an apocalypse have been debunked. They scared the world on social media and produced television/newspaper reports that have now proven to be many light-years away from the reality of Cameroon. Their nefarious claims that the campaigns will usher a bloodbath in Cameroon have not come to pass. Their claims that tribes will clash against tribes, Cameroonians will start un uprising and there will be civil war have all come to nought.

Those who said Cameroonians had vomited President Paul BIYA and will not allow his campaign teams anywhere in Cameroon have been disgraced. The millions of Cameroonians who turned out in Maroua -extreme north region-  to welcome President PAUL BIYA and the hundreds of thousands that attended his campaign events in other towns and villages of Cameroon through out all the campaigns have exposed the lies of haters of Cameroon.

When President PAUL BIYA said normalcy was returning in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon and the measures he had put in place to solve the crisis were working, many said it was just political grandstanding. During the ending campaigns, everyone saw some of the 12 candidates actually visit the regions and teams of all the 12 campaigns actually hold events in almost all the villages and towns of the regions. There were no street battles, gun-fire, explosives, kidnappings or destruction as had been predicted by internal and external haters of Cameroon. Those who tried to use the so-called “anglophone crisis” to discredit the October 12th 2025 presidential election have failed because of the wisdom and vision of President PAUL BIYA in handling the crisis so-far.

Those who claimed that the 11 opposition candidates will not be allowed to campaign because “paul biya is a dictator” have been proven wrong. Who did not see opposition candidates literally block entire streets for their campaigns? Who did not see even the state media give full coverage of campaign meetings of all the candidates? Who has not heard opposition candidates say anything and everything about president PAUL BIYA? Who has not seen opposition banners and pictures all over Cameroon?

Many of the external observers who are already in Cameroon to cover the election, are already expressing their surprise at the freeness and fairness of the campaigns that have taken place in a peaceful and” bon-enfant” atmosphere. This greatly contrasts with some tv-plateau quarrels, social-media rancor and hate-speech ambiance that a tiny manipulated fraction tried to impose on the campaigns. Cameroonians refused to follow them but instead listened to their president who asked them to remain calm as the “future was bright for all”.

The election campaigns have not destabilized the legendary “living-together” that Cameroon is now popular for. Cameroonians from all tribes and ethnicities have just expressed opposing political views but continued to co-exist peacefully and joyfully. Life is going on normally in Cameroonian cosmopolitan localities which have become veritable melting-pots of peaceful co-existence envied by other African countries.

As the campaigns end today and Cameroonians vote tomorrow the 12th of October 2025, one can only conclude that the same peace and concord that has reigned during the campaigns will be maintained. Cameroonians will once again put to rest all those who for decades have been predicting that the country is the next humanitarian crisis in Africa.

Cameroonians will vote peacefully and wait for the official instances to pronounce the results. They will accept the results and life will continue.

Bravo president PAUL BIYA, no matter the results of the votes that will be cast on the 12th of October 2025, you have once again shown the world that the Cameroon people are politically mature and can not be manipulated to destroy their country. You have shown the world that Cameroon can organize elections without violence. /-
